Sony RHT-S10 Home Theater Built-In Sound Rack System Review

Sony RHT-S10 Home Theater Built-In Sound Rack System
I purchased this sound system to augment my new Samsung 67 inch LCD/DLP television which has just average internal speakers. I wanted a simple straight forward listening device which would bring me Surround Sound and Dolby Digital. This unit fit my requirements perfectly in that it has HDMI inputs (2) and an HDMI output, as well as an optical input. I connected my Comcast STB (Explorer 8300HD) via the optical, directly to this unit thereby providing me the Digital 5.1/ Dolby Sound. This in turn eliminates sound going to the TV, which is preferable for me. I then connected the DVD player to the Sony sound system via HDMI and finally connected the Sony Theater to the TV via HDMI. The sound is just great, as the sub woofer is built in to the sound bar and is not overly loud, which is desirable for my listening taste.
I did a lot of research before buying the Sony Theater and although this is a new unit and there are no reviews yet, I thought it must be better than the others I read about, which all seemed to have an issue or two. My Comcast remote will turn this unit on, as well as the TV, and SA 8300, which is a must for me. I can control the sound via the aux button on the remote.
One interesting issue, this unit is made for wall mounting and comes with a center woofer speaker on the bottom. I wanted to place it on a shelf within my TV cabinet so I had to lift the sound bar up off the glass shelf using felt pads, it worked just fine but you need almost 8 inches of open shelf space to accomplish this task. I called Sony and asked them to consider making a cradle or add feet for this purpose.
My first listening experience was a Red Sox Game and the Dolby came through big time, every change of a graphic was accompanied by a swoosh, pretty entertaining stuff. I recommend this unit to anyone who wants a quality listening experience, good looks and the latest technological interfaces.

Awesome Sound Solution – Thomas G. Lepisto – usa
The RHT Sony Sound Bar was the perfect solution for the sound system for our Wall mounted 52″ Sony LCD. It is great looking, compact and produces very nice sound from the TV Signal, DVD, IPOD ( When you buy the cradle) and FM/ Input sources. The neat thing is the way it senses the input and will automatically switch sources. I have an aux. sub woofer, which I would recommmend. There are NO rear speakers to wire or buy. As I said above, the sound quality is good!, Good enough for me and is a reasonable trade-off for looks and simplicity. If you are a serious audiophile, you will probably want a conventional theater system. If you are like me and watch TV and ocassional movies, you will be very impressed.
Sony is great, I looked at other sound bars, but defaulted to the Sony brand and the Bravia system that all my comopnents have.
If you wall mount this, you may want to purchase some 90deg. HDMI adapters. It makes the cableing of the HDMI wires easier.
Go for it, you know you want to!!

Sony SRS-Z1 Personal Active Speaker System with “Floating” Speaker Design
Sony SRS-Z1 Personal Active Speaker System with “Floating” Speaker Design Review

I had been looking for a better quality speaker to replace the high quality (but huge) speakers that were packaged with my new Sony R series computer. I considered the Bose media mates and others recommended on this site but most still took a significant chunk of real estate and did little to free up visual space either. So I noticed the SRS-Z1 on the Sony website and immediately thought, there is no way that those tiny little things with only three watts per channel are going to sound half as good as my current speakers but…
So here they sit on my desk, barely even noticable among the stacks of… never mind. Bottom line, if you want an all in one portable system or a simple two speaker, easy-on-the-eyes replacement for your computer speakers LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! If however you are willing to add a subwoofer and create your own mini audiophile system BUY A SET NOW!
Without a good sub these speakers are huantingly transparent and accurate to a fualt but they have no bass what-so-ever. Imagine a set of .99 headphones and you’ll be in the right frame of mind. Yes, the fidelity is much higher than a transister radio but the frequency loss on the low end is similiar. Once a sub with mini plug output is added however this system just opens up. Freed of the need to produce the low frequencies these speakers make mids and highs seem to hang in the air as smoothly and delicately as anything else on the market. After about ten minutes of E.Q. adjustment on my computer these speakers are comparable in sound to my (Much larger floor speakers) Bose 701s in the living room, with a little help from the sub.
If the price tag scares you, remember that prices vary wildly from shop to shop and todays latest and greatest is tomorrows bargain bin filler.

SONY SRS-Z1, 6 WATT POWERED PERSONAL SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH AMPLIFI
Sony Speaker System – Ward Parker – Brooklyn, NY, USA
All around good speakers for the price. They don’t handle bass real well but for their size they do an okay job with it. Mid range and treble are all real good. Music played over them is clear and distortion free. Overall a good deal.
Sony SRS-Z1 Personal Active Speaker System with “Floating” Speaker Design Specifications
The SRS-Z1 active speaker system comes complete with an amplifier and two satellite speakers. The speakers have die-cast aluminum chassis stands, the color of which match Sony’s Discman and MiniDisc portable recorders and players. The color is also a classy, high-tech color and looks appropriate in any room setting. The speakers are powered by an included AC adaptor. Built-in controls for volume and power are front mounted for easy access. Included in the package is a two meter (6.6 feet) connecting cord with a stereo mini-jack, the ideal cord for connecting these speakers to a wide range of components.
With six watts of power, these speakers produce a quality sound. Sony also uses sigma-type magnetic circuitry which aids in producing a deep bass sound. The 1 1/2 inch speakers deliver excellent sound for their size. The 1 1/2 inch bass reflex woofer has a folded sound duct for high acoustic output. Sony has also engineered a “floating” speaker design into the SRS-Z1. This design elevates the speakers slightly and eliminates reflective waves, creating a crisp and accurate sound. Stylish looks, crisp sound, quality bass: the SRS-Z1 creates big sound in a small package.
